Understanding
Knee Injuries
At this time, we are demanding more from our bodies for a longer period of time. Work, leisure and sports activities take their toll on our knees. The main goal for any orthopedic surgeon is to keep you active and healthy while being pain-free. Frequently, this means getting an MRI to assess the pathology that is causing the pain. Once the diagnosis is established, then we will discuss treatment options. This will include physical therapy, bracing, medications, activity modifications, home stretching and exercise regimen, and steroid injections. Ultimately, if these are ineffective, we will discuss the possibility of arthroscopic surgery, how it is performed, and what you can expect from it. Fortunately, this minimally invasive procedure can be performed safely, has a rapid recovery and short rehab time, and has excellent long term results.
Anterolateral (ACL)
Ligament Reconstruction
Is a knee surgery which the torn ligament is removed and replaced with a piece of tendon from another part of your knee or from a deceased donor. This surgery is an outpatient procedure that’s performed through small incisions around your knee joint.
